June 3, 2011

Today has been a good day.  Finley is doing so many great things.  I thought I would make a small list to share with you all, especially my friends in the therapy world.

-speaking in Nepalese yes/no and short phrases (think english will be the same shortly)
-ascending stairs with 1 HHA in reciprocal pattern, descending in step to.
-started tonight dancing to techno music in demonstration and laughing.
-diapering her doll,
-stirring real/play food in a bowl.
-rolls / squishes food in hand/plate like she is preparing
-pull pants up from floor.
-attempts to dress doll
-drinks from a sippy cup
-feeds self with spoon, but prefers finger feeding
-points to desired food.
-tolerates bathing including washing hair
-sits on potty seat, but no success
-allows teeth to be brushed with toothpaste, makes some strokes herself.
-spits, although it is in the floor everytime
-attempts to put her own shoes on
-brought me mine to put on so we could go.
-shows pride in clothing.
-climbs
-right handed
-good prehension.  scribbles.
-twice today she sat on the floor at the foot of the bed and put this heavy fleece like blanket over her body and went to sleep.  I raised it up and she was pouring sweat, but wanted to stay there.  Crazy.  But she doesn't want a blanket on to sleep in the bed!
-tolerates car VERY well.
-did not whimper when she got her TB test.
-loves her shoes, cookies, water.
-she is carrying her doll and sippy cup around for security.
-the cup must go with her when she leaves the room.

Lots of good stuff.  Only 1 major meltdown and 3 minor today.  Yay.  Improvement.   She also ate very well today.

The times on the postings are in Pacific Time it appears.  I will try to get the corrected to defaulting to CDT.  We are actually ahead of the time showing on each posting, just FYI.
10 hours and 45 minutes ahead for CDT so 12 hours and 45 minutes ahead of Pacific Time.

Have a great day everyone!

  1. So funny, we might call you a walking HELP checklist! She is doing awesome! Her adjustment to change is amazing. After reading through all the "precautions" and worries about bonding in the Hague training, it is so good to hear how well it can go! I'm sure it is so hard to just wait and not have all the conveniences you will have at home, yet probably so good for her to have a chance to just do those simple things in the room with you and completely rely on you for those basic needs before the overstimulation of our technical fast pace world!
Continuing to pray for you all!
